Randy Simon (the Hammer), has been involved in the trucking industry for 18+ years. He is an experienced trainer, and is certified in the transportation of hazardous materials.
Randy and Debi both feel strongly that Integrity, Honesty and Trust (IHT&A) are essential elements for a successful company. Randy is comfortable in a leadership role, and confident in his abilities to provide direction to employees, which will result in superior service to our customers. The level of service and the reputation we have built are a direct result of these beliefs.
Randy's career experience also contains 33 years of military experience, involving management, leadership, honor and patriotism. Part of his responsibilities included transportation (including loading/unloading) of heavy equipment. His title was Operations Superintendent with the 128th Air Refueling Wing at Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Randy retired from the 128th his past year with 33 years of service. Many people have expressed their thanks to him for his service. He appreciates that. He is very patriotic and will continue to support the military, both those serving in active duty and all other areas of service. He and Debi also both would like to express our sincere thanks to all of the family members of those serving. We know it is also very difficult for those left here at home.
It was a logical decision for Randy to get into the motorcycle transportation industry. His love of riding goes back to his early 20s when he raced motor cross, and experienced the excitement of riding. Several years later, the bug bit him again, and he could not shake the desire to own another motorcycle. The current bike of his dreams a Pearl White 2002 Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic which travels with him often, takes him back to that freedom, the excitement of the ride and enjoyment of the road!
Due to health issues in 2005-06, Randy has not been working with IHT on a daily basis. However, he is still very much involved with Debi in the operations and planning of Iron Horse Transport. We will be heading for Daytona Bike Week at the end of February, which will be a great opportunity for us to take a look at what we are doing, what we want to do and where we will take Iron Horse Transport in 2008! Randy is still very committed to providing the very best customer service and care of equipment. That was our position and goal from the very first day, and we feel we have maintained that level of service and care to this day.
Randy looks forward to seeing what the new year will bring for IHT - and having more time to speak with and, of course, ride with more of our customers and friends this year! | Debi Hurd started out running Iron Horse Transport, LLC with Randy Simon in 2003. Debi has over 25 years of business experience, with 10 years in the legal field, as well as experience in Sales and Marketing, computers, internet, website development and maintenance, and many other administrative functions.
Debi can provide you with information regarding quotes, towing, transporting to rallies, dedicated group trips, one-way transport and all "general" questions. In the future, you can contact Debi for info on the tours she will be conducting too!
GENERAL INFO: This past year, due to many factors, we made the decision to shut down our trailers for the winter months - picking up again in 2008 with the Daytona Bike Week rally. It was a difficult decision, but one that made business sense. Debi continued to make every effort to accommodate our regular customers either by referral to other reputable carriers, or in some cases (such as snowbirds) driving the cars down herself and flying home....:) Debi loves to work with our customers and to meet new ones, and it is our greatest hope that everybody understood our position and that we will always do all we can to make it work out. Sometimes, it is just not possible, and you may have been referred to another reputable carrier. Please know, it was not what we really wanted to do.
Debi is also working on developing a new segment to IHT! She will start offering motorcycle tours for "beginner" women. These tours will be 2-4 days long and will be groups of 8-10 women. Debi hopes to grow this new endeavor to a point where tours will be offered to everybody! We are hoping to have that all put together and kick it off just prior to Harley Davidson's 105th Anniversary festivities!
